Man receives more than £20thousand of drugs through post

Twenty-year-old pleads guilty to drug possession

A Douglas man's admitted trying to have £25,000 worth of drugs sent to him through the post.

Twenty-year-old Morgan Askew of Gorsecroft appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse.

He's pleaded guilty to producing cocaine and cannabis to the Isle of Man at Post Office headquarters in Braddan between 12 and 19 March.

He also admitted attempting to possess the drugs with intent to supply them on 19 March.

Prosecution advocate Hazel Carroon told the hearing police had found 6.4 grammes of cocaine and 984 grammes of cannabis bush.

Altogether, they had a street value of around £25,000, which Mrs Hughes said was too serious for her sentencing powers.

She committed Askew to a Court of General Gaol Delivery for sentencing, and remanded him in custody.

He'll appear at the higher court on 6 April.
