Nighttime rescue by volunteers
Douglas coastguard and lifeboat crew members plucked a man to safety from the sea last night.
The emergency services were called out at around 9pm after reports of a man in the water at Greensill’s Corner on Douglas Promenade.
The man was stranded on a ledge below the level of the sea wall.
Police were unable to reach him because of the high tide, and coastguard and RNLI volunteers went into the water to save him.
The man was brought ashore safely.
