Police intercept multiple parcels
A court's heard a Douglas man tried to have to parcels of drugs sent to him in the post because Isle of Man prices were too high.
Thirty-one-year-old Carl Francis Kelch, of Clifton Terrace, appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
He admitted two charges of producing cannabis to the Island.
Prosecution advocate Roger Kane told the court post office staff spotted a suspicious package on 26 September – inside was 27.5 grammes worth £550.
On 12 January another parcel addressed to Kelch was intercepted and opened by police – this one had 28.9 grammes worth £867 inside.
Kelch was arrested and when interviewed by police said he’d ordered the drugs for £100 after growing sick of paying Manx prices.
But he told officers the cannabis had been for his own personal use.
He was fined £800 in total and was ordered to pay £125 towards prosecution costs.
