Man who followed girls sentenced

Behaviour described as 'bizarre'

A man who took over 25,000 photographs of unsuspecting women, including teenage girls, has been sentenced to 14 weeks custody suspended for two years.

Craig Neil Taylor, of Royal Park Ramsey, had pleaded guilty to three charges of conduct amounting to harassment, after complaints from three girls.

The offences had taken place over a period of three years, between 2013 and 2017.

Taylor's advocate, Roger Kane, told the court the reason for the offences remained a mystery and whilst Mr Taylor's partner had been suffering from serious medical issues, this was no excuse. His behaviour could only be described as an obsession.

Mr Kane went on to say 45 year old Taylor was genuinely remorseful and had been seeing his GP and the community mental health team.

Giving him credit for his guilty pleas and previous good character, Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said his reaction to his wife's illness had been "bizarre" and it was little wonder the press had picked up on the case. It had been humiliating for his wife, when he should have been there to support her.

She said his behaviour had been described as "predatory stalking" and nothing less than a custodial sentence would be suitable.

Mrs Hughes also imposed a suspended sentence supervision order and costs of £125.
