Manannan damaged during very rough crossing from Liverpool

Damage to vehicle deck and engine issues for fastcraft

The Steam Packet Company has confirmed Manannan was damaged during a very rough crossing from Liverpool to the Isle of Man.

The fastcraft was delayed in Merseyside yesterday after conditions at Pier Head prevented passengers disembarking for several hours.

After later sailings were cancelled last night due to what the ferry operator described as 'operational reasons', the company has now confirmed damage was sustained to the vehicle deck, and the vessel also suffered engine problems as a result of the crossing.

The Steam Packet says its engineering team worked tirelessly overnight carrying out repairs and conducting tests.

The vessel has since returned to service, departing for Belfast at around 8.30am today.

The remainder of today's Manannan sailings are subject to delays.
