Kneale 'thrilled'with honour

A renowned Manx painter and sculptor has become an MBE for his services to art.

Bryan Kneale has pieces on display in museums and galleries across the world, has produced pieces for cathedrals in England and created the three legs statue at Ronaldsway airport.

He also worked as a teacher for many years, and was the first abstract sculptor to be elected as a member of the Royal Academy of Arts, in 1974.

Manx National heritage has described him as 'one of the most accomplished Manx artists of our time'.

The 88-year-old is said to be 'thrilled' with his MBE.
