Manx Care is reviewing how eye care is being delivered on the Island.
Due to the aging population here, there's been a growth in people seeking ophthalmic services, according to the organisation's medical director.
Speaking on Mannin Line this week, Dr Chris Stockport says the healthcare provider is also looking at what support can be made available to optometrists on the high street to deliver more care without requiring the input of Noble's Hospital.
He added that some treatments need to be done off-island due to the types of glaucoma being 'really complicated'.
