Manx pupil secures place at prestigious performing arts school

Jessie Quigley begins her journey at Glyndebourne Academy later this week

A young woman from the Isle of Man has undergone a rigorous application process to attend a specialist performing arts school based in the UK.

Jessie Quigley will begin studying alongside her academics at a famous opera house in Sussex.

150 people applied to attend Glyndebourne Academy, only 25 were shortlisted to attend a series of rehearsals and lectures, before that figure is whittled down to 10.

Jessie is a pupil at King William's College who told Manx Radio's Christian Jones how it all began:

The academy is home to Glyndebourne Opera House - one of the finest and most celebrated opera houses in the world, delivering performances to some 150,000 people each year.

Within the school, industry professionals deliver the teaching ranging from répétiteurs, language coaches but also movement.
