Sir Jim Ratcliffe secured 25 per cent of club on Christmas Eve
The company run by a billionaire who bought 25 per cent of Manchester United ahead of Christmas has Manx links.
The club confirmed the sale to Sir Jim Ratcliffe on Christmas Eve.
A statement released on Man Utd's website reveals the £1.03bn deal will be completed through Trawlers Limited, a company registered on the Isle of Man.
It was registered on 16 October 2023 at Cains Corporate Service Limited, Fort Anne, Douglas.
The aforementioned statement reveals Sir Jim will 'provide a $300 million fund intended to enable future investment into the Club’s infrastructure at Old Trafford, comprising $200 million paid upon the closing of the transaction and a further $100 million by the end of 2024'.
Trawlers Limited will 'be issued additional Class A and Class B shares at $33.00 in respect of such investment' and the transaction 'will be fully funded by Trawlers Limited without any debt'.
