Manx Whisky Company 'proud' to bring gold awards back to the Isle of Man

Co-Founder and Distiller Magnus Grinneback - Manx Radio

Small Baldrine-based distillery wins big on the world stage

A whisky made entirely with ingredients sourced on the Isle of Man has secured yet another gold medal at the World Whiskies Awards.

Bouramo, a product of the Manx Whisky Company in Baldrine, has taken the top spot in the Small Batch Single Malt Under 12 Years Old category.

Described as 'a marriage of Isle of Man single malts', it's created using barley from Ballavell Farm and drawn from three different casks; two bourbon, one sherry.

Judges' tasting notes read: "Lemon curd, pecan pie, and whipped cream on the nose. Honey, lemon zest, caramel, subtle smoke, and cheesecake on the palate. Long finish and good balance and complexity.”

Not only has it claimed a gold award, it now stands in contention for the coveted title of World’s Best Small Batch Single Malt, winners to be announced in March.

There are 21 countries represented amongst the other finalists, including Scotland, Ireland, England, Japan, New Zealand and Australia.

But the company's latest achievement also marks the third year that it's been able to come away with a gold award.

Co-Founder and Distiller Magnus Grinneback says it makes them feel proud to see Manx produce competing at the top level:

“We’ve always believed the Island has everything needed to make exceptional whisky. To see that recognised internationally means a great deal.” - Co-Founder Scott Young.

The company was founded in 2019 and its fourth whisky was released in November, 2025. While all bottles are currently sold out, the company says there are selected venues around the Island which offer drams by the glass.
