Extra care needed during dry spell
The Manx Wildlife Trust has criticised those responsible for starting a fire at Port Grenaugh earlier this week.
The fire service spent four hours putting out the flames, after someone had thrown a disposable barbecue off the headland.
The trust's CEO, Tim Graham, says it was a stupid thing to do.
The Manx Wildlife Trust's comments have come as part of a wider plea for people to behave responsibly whilst out in the countryside during this current spell of hot and dry weather.
It says vegetation is tinder dry and the slightest thing, like a discarded cigarette or even glass jars and bottles (which can act as a magnifying glass), could start a potentially catastrophic fire.
