Giant model of the Red Planet to go on display in Cathedral Isle of Man

Last year it was the moon, and from this weekend a giant model of Mars will be on display at Cathedral Isle of Man in Peel.

Once again, the work has been created by artist Luke Jerram and it's the sister work to the Museum of the Moon display.

Measuring six metres in diameter, it’ll be installed and ready for viewing from Saturday (7 February) and will be displayed until 2 March.

Over 18,000 visitors came to see the moon display a year ago.

Rosemary Clarke is a lay minister at the cathedral and says it’s an opportunity to experience the magic of the red planet:

A number of special events and concerts will be held at the cathedral whilst Mars is on display. Visit cathedral.im for more information.
