A Douglas man will be sentenced later this year after a ‘prolonged’ period of dangerous driving which saw him crash into a traffic island.
Marc Thomas Duncan, of Ballaughton Lane, appeared at Douglas Courthouse where he also admitted failing to stop after an accident and having a vehicle in a dangerous condition.
The 37-year-old reversed into a stone wall in Port Erin, on the evening of 12 February, before crashing his Vauxhall Vivaro into the pedestrian refuge on Main Road in Ballasalla.
Duncan continued driving at speed through the village and proceeded to travel straight over the new roundabout at Reayrt Mie where his tyre dislodged from the wheel rim.
He was stopped on Lord Street in Douglas with the prosecutor telling the court: “The only good point was that he didn’t interfere with any other road users.”
A social enquiry report has been requested before Duncan is sentenced on 21 May.
He’s been bailed until that date.
