Manx Development Corporation give evidence to Economic Policy Review Committee
The Manx Development Corporation has more potential than it's being used for right now - but they need land.
It's the view of Non-Executive Director, David Peach, who has been giving evidence to the Economic Policy Review Committee.
He told members there's an 'element of frustration' that there are a number of sites owned by government departments which are 'sat empty and have been for many years'.
He gave the former St Ninian's High School site on Park Road as an example:
However, Mr Peach stated it's 'not a straightforward thing', adding that: "All of this land is owned by individual departments. It's not a straightforward thing for Treasury to say to a particular department 'hand over this land to MDC'."
He stated the criticism has been levelled in 'every meeting' between the company and government via meetings with the Brownfield Regeneration Steering Group (BRSG), which is 'working proactively to try and make things happen'.
