Ten years after the Manx government tried to have the Lieutenant Governor’s title changed, the Island’s nationalists have come up with a similar proposal.
Mec Vannin held its Annual General Meeting earlier this week and discussed possible new titles for the governor as well as calling for the UK to pay for his presence here rather than the Manx taxpayer.
Mark Kermode of Mec Vannin says Tynwald changed its mind over plans to refer to the post as Crown Commissioner in 2006.
He says the party came up with its own ideas after much debate:
Rapist who 'terrorised' his victim told his sentence was 'entirely justified'
Discovery of oiled birds 'makes a mockery of our biosphere status'
Charges now in place for those sending parcels to the EU
Creamery managing director to leave role
