Men deny robbing Cavendish

Duo appear at Chelmsford Crown Court

Two men from London have appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court to deny robbing Manx cyclist Mark Cavendish and his wife, Peta, at their Essex home.

Romario Henry aged 31 of Lewisham, and Oludewa Okorosobo, 28, of Camberwell denied two counts of robbery. They will face trial on the 3rd of October. A third defendant, 27 year old Ali Sessay was asked not to enter pleas on two charges. All three were remanded in custody.

The court heard the couple were threatened in their home in the early hours of the morning on the 27th of November.

Essex Police told the court that nobody was seriously injured in the incident, but Mr and Mrs Cavendish feared for their lives and suffered considerable distress. Two high value watches and a Louis Vitton suitcase were stolen in the raid.

Mark Cavendish was spending time at home recovering from injuries sustained in a serious racing crash at the time of the incident.
