Michael MHK Alf Cannan says a new select committee should be set up to see whether the Island’s policy on agriculture is working.
During Tynwald earlier this week, he asked a series of questions for written answer about the state of Manx farming.
In particular he wanted details on the size of the Island dairy herd, the number of exports going off-Island, and prices paid to farmers for livestock and produce.
He says he’ll call for the select committee during next month’s sitting of the court after the answers he received mirrored worries from the industry:
Traders on Michael Street feel 'abandoned' by politicians in tough times
Job Centre unable to reliably identify duplicate vacancies
Airport warns high winds could impact flights
Bus talks to continue over festive season
