Douglas Central member Ann Corlett has twice secured backing in the Island's parliament for 20mph to be the default speed limit in residential areas, with a focus on roads around schools.
The Department of Infrastructure has since launched a consultation on plans to implement the speed limit on a number of the Island's roads.
