Singer meets talks offer with cynicism

Tynwald members are being offered a greater say on proposals to reform public sector pensions.

A long-awaited report from the Public Sector Pensions Authority was exected to trigger a major debate in Tynwald last week - ahead of a crucial vote on far-reaching changes to pensions. 

But the motion was pulled at the last minute - to give members more time to consider the plans, according to PSPA vice chairman John Shimmin.   

Ramsey MHK Leonard SInger was among several members who signalled they would not support the proposals.

He says a promise from the chief minister to include the group in coming discussions is a cynical move to 'pick off' individual members, ahead of a fresh vote.
