MHK surprised by electoral success

Standing down after 30 years

One of the Island’s longest serving MHKs says he was ready to quit after one term – but was then re-elected!

Onchan member Peter Karran has announced he'll stand down this Autumn after 31 years in Manx politics.

Over the decades, he's won six general elections and one by-election.

Mr Karran admits he was surprised by events in 1991 when he topped the poll for a second time.
