Onchan member Peter Karran will ask the Keys next week
An Onchan MHK is to ask Tynwald to back his stance on bathing water quality on the Island’s beaches.
When the court sits next week, Peter Karran MHK will ask members to approve a motion calling for EU Bathing Water Standards dating back to 2006 to be adopted here.
Mr Karran says such a move would bring the Island in line with neighbouring countries to protect the health of the public and beach users.
The Island currently follows an EU directive dating back to 1976 – the 2006 directive didn’t come into force in EU member states until last year.
