Subpostmaster continuing service for timebeing
More time to consider the future of Port St Mary Post Office has been welcomed by the MHK's for the area.
The Post Office announced yesterday (18 October) subpostmaster, Jeff Calvert, will continue running the branch during the current procurement process.
The post office says this move will allow them to 'fully explore' a late expression of interest received to run the branch going forward.
Rushen MHKs Juan Watterson and Dr Michelle Haywood say in a statement 'common sense has finally prevailed'.
Dr Haywood adds the branch is 'one of those bits of glue' which holds the community together:
The post office has warned there's no guarantee at this stage that a workable, long-term solution can be found.
