Handover takes place this afternoon
A milestone occasion in the long-term plan to restore the landmark Queen’s Pier in Ramsey will take place this afternoon (Saturday).
Seasoned campaigners The Friends of the Queen's Pier will officially 'pass the baton' to the Queen's Pier Restoration Trust with an £11,000 handover from their fundraising efforts.
Although the pier closed to public use in 1990, workers were recently allowed access after preliminary planning permission was granted to the Trust to rejuvenate the first section of the structure.
Retired engineer Tom Durrant is heading up the project.
