Royal Marines to form guard of honour
Music from the military will emanate from St Johns today from a prestigious royal band.
The HM Royal Marines Collingwood are performing for the Island's national celebrations.
A 41-strong ensemble have travelled from their base in Fareham in Hampshire, to perform.
As well as a traditional role during formal proceedings, the band will play again at the sunset ceremony.
Director of Music to the band Major Pete Curtis MBE says he is 'proud and delighted' they're taking part in the day.
He added the event is so special due to its history through the ages.
