Minister diverts vision for bendy buses

 

Proposals to bring bendy buses to the Island's roads have reached a dead end. 

Community, Culture and Leisure minister Graham Cregeen has tonight (November 5) confirmed the articulated vehicles will not be introduced.

Extensive trials were held earlier this year after concerns were raised for the safety of passengers who would have to stand, especially children.

Mr Cregreen insists the trial raised no safety issues.

But he says it's clear some of the Island's roads need further modernisation to support the weight of bendy buses and that's not an option in the current economic climate. 

Mr Cregeen says with government seeking budget savings across the board, bendy buses are a non-starter at the moment:
