Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne says advertising planning applications online is not denying people information.
In October, his department announced it would post planning applications online rather than in the newspapers to save around £40,000 a year.
He told Tynwald anybody applying for planning permission could face an extra £50 charge if they were forced to advertise in the Island's newspapers.
Mr Gawne faced questions on the topic from Garff MHK Steve Rodan as to whether the system was unfair on those who don't have internet access.
