Ministers face further questions on Sefton deal

Questions about the government’s bailout of the Sefton account for three-quarters of questions in the House of Keys this morning.

Twelve out of 16 questions for oral answer are about the £4.5 million loan and land deal announced by the government earlier the month.

They’ll see various ministers answering queries about arrangement fees, mismanagement, previous loans and even how much the hotel and construction group owes in National Insurance and tax.

Michael MHK Alf Cannan, Onchan MHK David Quirk, and Middle MHK Howard Quayle all have questions on the issue.

Away from the Sefton Group are questions about how many trials will be held in the Court of General Gaol this year, funding for public housing, the role of local authorities in giving rent rebates and new initiatives in the tourism industry.

MHKs will be asked to approve amendments to the Flood Risk Management Bill and new laws governing sunbeds.

There is just one item on today's Legislative Council order paper, a first reading for the Weeds (Amendment) Bill 2013.

You can hear live coverage of Keys questions on Manx Radio’s AM1368 frequency and at manxradio.com from 10am.
