MLC spared prison term for drink driving
A member of the Legislative Council has been handed a community service order after admitting driving while three times over the legal limit.
Fifty-seven year old Tony Wild appeared at Douglas courthouse today for sentence.
Wild, from Fairy Cottage in Lonan, was ordered to complete 180 hours community service over the next 12 months.
He's also been banned from driving for five years and fined £243.
He was stopped by police driving on 12 December last year, when his blood-alcohol reading was 108 milligrammes per 100 ml blood - the legal limit is 35.
Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes told Wild a custodial sentence was among her sentencing options.
