Henderson wants greater recognition for UNESCO status
An MLC has warned complacency could put the Island's UNESCO Biosphere status at risk.
At this morning's (27 Feb) sitting of the Legislative Council, Bill Henderson will quiz a representative of the Department of Environment, Food, and Agriculture on the issue.
He wants to know what conservation work is being undertaken in the 'core zones' of the biosphere, and whether the department recognises their importance as a measure of bio-diversity.
Mr Henderson says he's keen to see the government give greater recognition to what he sees as an important accolade:
