
Manx Electricity Authority chairman Howard Quayle says he hopes to expand the use of the fibreoptic cable linking us to the UK.
The undersea cable was laid some years ago but was only brought into use – or lit up – in 2007.
At the moment, it uses only around a third of its possible capacity, making a profit of around £200,000 a year.
Mr Quayle says he hopes to find local firms which could help make better use of the line, and bring in more cash for the Isle of Man:
