Government updates figures at briefing

There have been 66 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the Island's active number to 704.

The latest figures come following the announcement that a patient died from the virus in Noble's Hospital.

Ministers paid tribute to the victim this afternoon, offering condolences to family and friends.

Answering questions from the media in this afternoon's coronavirus media conference, Health Minister David Ashford confirmed the tragic death was in a person 'in an older age group'.

An online 'dashboard' has now gone live on the government's website, showing further data about the current number of cases.

From new data in the dashboard, it shows of the 704 active cases - just seven are acquired from travel, while 533 have been detected from a 'local known source', while 163 are from an 'local unknown source'.

Just one has been classed as detected from a 'source not determined'.

The average number of cases being detected each day currently stands at 79, however daily numbers do appear to be reducing.

It's as today, the Island hit a milestone in the vaccination programme, with more than 30,000 doses having now been administered.
