Mother seeks to raise awareness of sepsis

Film at Broadway Cinema to highlight deadly blood disease

A mother who lost her daughter to the blood disease sepsis is campaigning to raise awareness of the disease by screening a film at the Broadway Cinema next month (Nov)

18-year-old Ann Struthers from Onchan died after complaining of flu-like symptoms in 2013. Other symptoms also include shaking, very low body temperature, rapid pulse and vomiting.

British film "Starfish", starring Joanne Froggart and Tom Riley, tells a true story about a couple's attempt to recover after one of them contracts the disease.

37,000 people in the UK die from Sepsis every year - and Dee Struthers says action is urgently needed.

"Starfish" is being screened  on November 18th. Tickets are now on sale at the Villa Marina, you can find more information online at www.sepsistrust.org
