Campaign to improve safety for bikers
The mother of a young road racing fan who lost his life in the Island a year ago, will this morning unveil a plaque in his memory (30 Aug).
Twenty-two year old Lewis Clark from West Yorkshire died in a head-on collision with another motorcyclist on the Mountain Road last August.
This morning, a ceremony will be held at the Black Hut where his mother Beverley will dedicate a memorial to him, near the spot where he died a year ago to the day.
Lewis, who was on the Island for the Festival of Motorcycling, was hit head-on by the other biker who had strayed over the centre line.
An inquest last month returned a verdict of accidental death.
Mrs Clark has subsequently launched a campaign aimed at improving safety for bikers on the roads - releasing footage of the fireball which engulfed both riders.
The hard-hitting video was shared by the Island's Roads Policing Unit.
Lewis' close family members and family friends will be there to pay tribute to Lewis' memory.
They'll be joined by TT racer Connor Cummins and police representatives as the plaque is unveiled at 9am.
