Public Health Isle of Man’s praise for organ donation campaigner
People on the Isle of Man are being urged to record or update their wishes about organ donation.
Public Health is using this Mother’s Day to remind people of a change in law which came into effect earlier this year.
The Human Tissue and Organ Donation Act brings the Island in line with the UK, Northern Island and Jersey and Guernsey and means you now have to opt-out of donating.

Daniel's Law
The Act is known colloquially as ‘Daniel’s Law’ after Diane Taylor’s 15-year-old son, Daniel Boyde, who died in a road accident in 2007.
The teenager’s parents made the decision to donate his organs which went on to save the lives of four other people.

Public Health says today - the 15 March - holds a ‘deeper meaning’ for Diane, who campaigned to change the system to one of deemed consent, as it marks Daniel’s birthday.
It adds this Mother’s Day it wants to ‘honour the strength, love, and courage of all mothers especially those whose stories continue to shape our community in powerful ways’.
