MHK wants rule change in March 2024
An MHK is set to put forward a motion during next month's Tynwald sitting which would see the Isle of Man Steam Packet subject to Freedom of Information requests.
It's currently not possible to submit a request to the company - something we heard questioned in the House of Keys in recent weeks.
The motion, for December's sitting, has been put forward by Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas:
Recently, Chief Minister Alfred Cannan said the Steam Packet Company will not be subject to the Freedom of Information Act, as it's not a 'public authority', and such a move would 'expressly undermine' the position of the company as being 'run commercially at arms length'.
