Motorsport in 2015 generated £28m for IoM

DED releases survey results

The Department of Economic Development (DED) has released results from a visitor survey undertaken during the 2015 TT.

It's the third survey of its kind - having carried out similar research in 2010 and 2013.

Findings show that at on Monday June 8th there were more than 30,000 visitors on the Island.

The survey was done by Isle of Man based Research Offshore.

Questionnaires were handed out at the airport and sea terminal with visitors also completeing face-to-face interviews about their stay.

Results reveal that, on average, visitors stayed for seven nights and spent more than £740 -  a total expenditure of £31.4million.

According to the findings, there was a 7.4 per cent increase on the number of visitors to the event since 2013, with more than 42,000 bike fans travelling over to see the famous Mountain Course.

It's thought the TT and Festival of Motorcycling have generated more than £28million for the Manx economy this year alone.
