MT and Sure investigating broadband fault

Both say they're working to get customers back online

Two of the Island's internet providers are working to fix issues which have left customers unable to get online.

Manx Telecom and Sure both reported problems with their broadband services yesterday evening.

Both companies say they're investigating the cause of the fault, and are working to fix the issue as soon as possible.

In a statement released this morning, Manx Telecom said: "Manx Telecom sincerely apologises for the issue affecting broadband access in a number of areas across the Island, and for the inconvenience this is causing.

"We can confirm that at 5pm yesterday we experienced a service outage and this has impacted 4,000 business and consumer customers across the Island. We very much regret this situation has occurred and can reassure that our engineers responded immediately, working with our partners and suppliers throughout the night to try and resolve the issue.

"We are dedicated to minimising disruption and are making every effort to restore availability. Further details will be made available as soon as possible. Customers are encouraged to contact us via our social media channels and to check our network status web page at www.manxtelecom.com/support/network-status"

CEO Gary Lamb gave an update on Manx Radio Breakfast:

Meanwhile, Sure issued a further update on social media this morning, stating: "We continue to see issues with broadband services impacting customers in various areas of the Island. This is a Manx Telecom broadband fault that is impacting all local internet service provider customers. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause Sure customers and will post further updates as they become available."
