MUA reduces debt
The net debt of the Manx Utilities Authority, which combined the Water Authority and Manx Electricity Authority, has been reduced by £11 million.
However, in the MUA annual report to Tynwald, chairman Alfred Cannan MHK will warn the overall size of the debt, close to half a billion pounds, still presents an enormous challenge.
The sewerage rate was unpopular but Mr Cannan says it was necessary.
He also says staffing numbers have been reduced and, where possible, further savings made:
