Multi-million pound development planned for North Quay

Proposed 'duplex development' would span six units on the Quay

Newsons warehouse could become cafe, bar and apartments

Proposals for a £3million build on Douglas' North Quay could see the conversion of a former retail outlet into a bar and restaurant, if planning permission is secured.

Spanning across six units along the marina, plans have been submitted to turn the Newsons warehouse into a mixed-use space for residences and retail.

Prior to their move to Strand Street in 2016, the outdoor clothing specialists had been trading on the quay for over 60 years.

Recent surveying on behalf of the application reported the condition of the registered building to be deteriorating and that finding an economic use was necessary to secure its long term future.

The duplex development, which would see retail on street level and up to six apartments on the floors above, also include 22-23 North Quay, a former jewellers shop.
