Mum urges everyone to check their blind cords

Three-year-old saved by sister after accident

An Onchan mum is urging everyone with blinds in their home to check the safety of the cords.

It's after Emma Redmond's three year old son put his head through the cord of the blinds in his bedroom and jumped off the windowsill.

His six year old sister managed to free him, but he was still left with severe injuries to his neck.

The family have shared photographs to act as a warning to others.

Emma says if her little girl hadn't been there, it could have ended very differently:

There is no specific law to have child safety cords on blinds in the Isle of Man, but many providers follow the UK where it is a legal requirement.
