Murder trial enters fourth week

The trial of a Castletown man accused of murder continues at Douglas Courthouse this morning.

Ian Anderson, who's 46, denies murdering 60-year-old Neil Roberts from Ballabeg.

Mr Roberts's body was found by police at Mr Anderson's house in Queen street, Castletown, in late 2013.

Mr Anderson finished giving his evidence last week and the defence is set to continue today.

Linda Watts, prosecuting, finished her cross-examination of Mr Anderson by firing a series of questions at him, about his feelings towards Mr Roberts.

Including "You'd had enough of him hadn't you?" and "you attacked him didn't you?"

Mr Anderson said "no".

Mrs Watts also suggested Mr Anderson had no regret - she said "you wanted him dead and would stop at nothing until he was, that's the position isn't it?"

Mr Anderson again said "no" and told the jury he never hated Mr Roberts.

Deemster Montgomerie asked the final question.

He referred to a phone call to the landline of Mr Anderson's house from his brother.

The call lasted eight minutes.

Nine seconds after the call ended Mr Anderson dialled 999.

The trial continues at Douglas Courthouse this morning.
