Murder trial jury being taken to scene

The jury in the trial of a Castletown man accused of murder has been shown a video of the alleged crime scene.

Ian Anderson from Queen Street has pleaded not guilty to the murder of 60-year-old Neil Roberts from Ballabeg, between November 29 and 2 December 2013.

Mr Anderson, who's 46, is also charged with assaulting his wife Alison Anderson, causing actual bodily harm.

This morning the prosecution presented its first piece of formal evidence: a video of the interior of 40 Queen Street, as it was found by police, with Mr Roberts' body in situ.

Footage viewed by the jury of seven women and five men showed blood stains on walls and doors in downstairs rooms of the Castletown property.

Today jury members are visiting the house, and will be accompanied by the trial judge Deemster Montgomerie.

Yesterday Linda Watts for the prosecution described to the jury how Neil Roberts's injured body was found at the house.

The trial continues at Douglas courthouse this afternoon.
