Announcement didn't highlight exemptions
The police have admitted they made a mistake with a recent announcement about music and dancing licences.
An advisory notice published on the Isle of Man Constabulary's Facebook page failed to mention exemptions to the Music and Dancing Licence Act 1961.
A written reply to a Tynwald question for the attorney general from David Cretney MLC acknowledges the error and outlines the exemptions.
The act does not apply to licensed premises or club premises, or to any place kept or used for any entertainment purpose, including for philanthropic, charitable or religious purposes, or obtaining funds for the same.
