Union members subject to 'intimidation' following strike announcement says NASUWT rep

'Misconceptions' pushed by education department, says O'Neill

Members of the NASUWT teaching union, set to start strike action at the end of the month, have been subject to 'perceived intimidation' since the plans were announced.

That's the claim from the group's negotiation secretary as a row between the union and the Department of Education Sport and Culture continues.

Speaking to Manx Radio Geraldine O'Neill claims the 30 per cent pay demand equates to reparations for pay lost over the past 12 years:

The union rep says teachers are also facing increased levels of violence in the classroom and some school buildings are in urgent need of repair.
