Quilliam lecture returns tonight
The domestic of Naval wives during the Napoleonic wars will be explored this evening.
Arbory Parish Church hosts the annual Spring Quilliam lecture, established to mark the parish's links to the navy through Captain John Quilliam, who helped steer Nelson's flagship Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar.
The topic's been inspired by Betsey Fremantle, a contemporary admiral's wife and prolific diarist.
Organiser Dr Phil Smith says she was, in many ways, the role model for the modern military wife.
