New app will 'rid streets of dog mess'

The technology has been developed by Ramsey-based tech firm C.R. App

Problem solved for pedestrians

A new mobile app is promising a solution to a widespread problem on Manx streets.

The makers of Poober claim global positioning technology can detect incidents of dog fouling within minutes, and use DNA data to identify the offending canine.

One of a fleet of autonomous drones will then be dispatched to pick up the mess - and post it back through the owner's letterbox.

Questions surrounding how best to solve the recurring issue left Tynwald members scratching their heads (and shoes) in a widely-publicised debate last year.

The app's official launch today (1 April) also ties in with the results of a public consultation, which saw residents overwhelmingly back the return of white dog mess.
