New BBC cash at time of cuts elsewhere

BBC investment in the Isle of Man will outstrip that committed to the United Kingdom's regions and nations.

An extra £100,000 has been earmarked for projects to improve coverage of Manx news and current affairs, and Manx culture and language.

Last week, Tynwald received final recommendations from the Council of Ministers on the findings of the Select Committee into the Licence Fee.

The committee's hope the BBC would pour 'ever more resources' into the Isle of Man were described as 'unrealistic' by ministers.

But, head of external policy for the BBC Wilf White who took part in the inquiry says, at a time the corporation is making cuts elswhere, it will benefit from a new slice of cash:
