Ian Skelly wins by-election
Port St Mary has a new commissioner.
Ian Skelly won yesterday's (Thurs) by-election receiving 296 votes.
The election was called after long-serving member Rebecca Sinfield had to step down when it emerged her name was not on the electoral roll.
Mr Skelly comfortably beat three other candidates; Samuel Rotchell received 91 votes, Michelle Hayward 60 and Phylis Crook 39.
A total of 510 votes were cast representing a turnout of 38%, a figure which Chairman of the Commissioners, Bernadette McCabe, calls "encouraging" and which she says shows an appetite for local politics.
