New community centre is taking shape

The Northern Lights Community Centre in Ramsey is up and running and beginning to take off.

It aims to provide everything from a coffee shop to farmers' markets, yoga sessions to arts and craft classes, and eventually recording and rehearsal spaces for musicians.

Open mic nights have started recently, providing the north of the Island with a music venue that isn't a pub, so it can be used by under-18s.

Sam Jenkins, who has set up the centre with his wife Natalie, says what they have achieved so far is still sinking in (first part of audio file):

Sam says a big push will be made in January to get the music facilities in place (second part of audio file):

You can also find the facility on Facebook.

The centre is opposite the Shoprite car park, just along from the MEA showroom.
