Designed to help mothers be closer to their newborns
New ‘side-by-side’ cots have been made available to new mothers at the Jane Crookall Maternity Unit at Noble’s Hospital.
13 cots - one of which is a twin one - are designed to be a safe and comfortable way for mums to be closer to their newborns.
It’s aiming to give easy access if babies need soothing or comforting and help women get used to breastfeeding.
Funds to purchase them were covered by the Manx Association for the Welfare of Children in Hospital (MAWCH).
It’s after the association was awarded £15,000 from the Local Co-op Community Fund.
MAWCH Secretary, Margaret Davies, says they hope it will give babies the very best start in life.
The organisation adds it’s in the early stages of plans to support a project for the Children’s Ward and details will be given in due course.
